Dear Imperfection
Dear Imperfection,
Through broken glass in a shattered mirror you’re staring back at me,
The distorted reflection of my own worst enemy.
Why do you make me feel so unloved, unwanted,
Shoved away in a corner, secluded, never good enough?
White you stain, good you taint,
Flaws you love, perfection you hate.
A single thorn in a meadow of poppies
You make into a brier patch, everything’s catch 22.
I strive for your opposite, forever I have, always I will.
All the years, everything I have done, has been in pursuit of it.
Always falling short, only one thing keeping me from it… you.
Even the smallest taste of sweet perfection
You take away and leave the lingering taste of bitterness.
Go away! I have had enough of your lies!
Someday, a slave to you no longer I will be
My chains will be broken, I’ll be flying free.
Forever I wish to be the Lotus flower
Untouched yet surrounded by you forever.
With disdain,
A Perfectionist
