Dear Insomnia,

I idolized you as a child.
But my mom never let you come around

I flirted with all of the time.
You often helped me unwind.

As I grew, I learned more about you.
I would sneak and spend time with you.

& once I turned eighteen.
There was no wall in between.

Inseparable, were me and you.
I then saw things I never knew.

Sadly, I saw it at 36.
All of those yrs I ignored it.

It took me yrs to know that you were wrong.
But my mom knew it all along.

Sincerely

Poetry is therapeutic to me. Over the years I have found a way to include it in anything and I love it. It helps me to keep my mind off of the things that I go through. Especially now.
