Dear J
Dear J,
I can't pretend I didn't love you.
Maybe I just loved the idea of you.
You were something special.
There isn't a day I don't think about what we had.
You're the one that got away.
I regret how it happened.
But there wasn't a thing I could've done.
I miss your small hands and tiny fingers;
How gently they brushed your hair behind your ears,
How easily they gripped your steering wheel,
How they held my hands and made me feel special.
I miss your witty rapport and crooked smile.
All the things you showed me, I still love;
They still remind me of you.
Perhaps I think of you too much.
It hurts a little, but my memory is all I have left.
I still love you.
After all this time.
Love, K
