Dear John

Why were you asking? Said you were just thinking You said to believe That you’d never leave It’s been a year Your voice I long to hear While you are gone I’m writing Dear John You’re writing Dear Jane Please; take away the pain? With only hope and desire Walking into the line of fire Oh god, why me? You had just one last plea When you saw red They say you said: “Tell her I love her” Spoken in a whisper You’re coming home tomorrow You’re going to be a hero
