Dear Kirkwood Community College

Dear Kirkwood Community College,

When I was a child,

my thoughts would run wild,

my dream was to run away.

Now since I am grown,

in my heart it is known,

all I truly want to do is stay.

While I was growing,

My anticipation was showing,

how I longed to be free.

Now that I am older,

and my life is much bolder,

I am chasing after my dream degree.

As a child I would play,

drawing dresses every day,

and falling in love with fashion.

I changed my mind for a while,

But I am still in love with style,

so fashion is truly my passion.

In the fall I will travel,

down my road which is gravel,

which will soon lead me to you.

I close my eyes every day,

I lift my hands and I pray

you will make all of my dreams come true.

Kirkwood I am scared,

I need to become prepared,

all of your scholarships are due.

If I hurry and apply,

my applications cannot be denied,

for less money I can attend you.

As my future approaches fast,

I reflect on my past,

and how I dreamed to go far away.

But to you I applied,

and with a yes you replied,

so close to home I will stay.

So this is it Kirkwood,

I am saying goodbye to my childhood,

it is time for me to attend you.

As I hug my mom and dad,

I will try not to be sad,

Becasue Kirkwood, you are making my dreams come true.

Sincerely,

Sarah Soliday
