Dear Kristian

Dear Kristian,

Not today, I'm tired.

Your math makes me feel inferior.

I'd rather sit alone outside

with my words that sound superior.

I'd rather stare at the cars

that slowly pass me by,

feel the lonely of the wind,

and hear the birds' drowned-out cries.

People come and people go

from our old glass door.

And there's a girl sitting across from me

who I'm pretending to ignore.

I'd rather sit near this lamppost--

it doesn't move when I get near.

And when my words sound offensive,

it doesn't disappear.

Right now I just feel like being

a place that feels like being with me;

where I am nothing more and nothing less

than who I choose when I am free.

Lauren
