Dear Lance Corporal Jenson

Dear Lance Corporal Jenson,

Your touch still lingers, I cant wash my sheets.

If I do I fear ill forget my marine.

The bed is cold and not only because its turning December.

Do you remember me? My face? My eyes? My hands?

Not the face you saw wet from tears you saw

when duty over seas called you for a year.

The face that had a permenant concrete smile while you chased me

on Virginia Beach.

Not the hands that grabbed hold of your neck tight,

scratching for one more day with you.

The hands that softly fit perfect in yours

while we picked apples at the orchard.

My smiles last a few seconds or minutes.

My heart only knows sorrow,

hoping for a better tommorow.

Lance Corporal Jenson, how many bullets did you dodge today?

When I talk to your mom on the phone,

I know her heart aches like mine to.

I hear it in her tone.

Lance Corporal Jenson, we just want you home.

I cant count the letter Ive sent maybe three,

maybe four.

Id love to hear from you because this heart ache,

I cant afford.

My life here has stayed on hold.

I forgot how to breathe, how to walk, how to run.

I forgot your name

and when it rolls off my tounge,

Jordan.

This is no longer a name I know for the boy I fell in love with

in the green and white football jersey, is no more.

For now my love is Semper Fi,

for im in love with a U.S Marine,
