Dear Life
Dear Life,
I think I haven't known you...
I feel I don't know you...
I haven't been with you for a long time,
but I'm coming to understand
the crashing of your waves
and the moving of your hands
through my soul
braiding, intricately
with everyone I love.
Sometimes I can see you
Purely, undistilled
in the shape of the world
in its vibrant color.
But sometimes
I get lost in my movement
the patterns, the habits
so much that I forget the majesty
the small unceasing beauty
the sound of blood when I run
the sound of my breath when I'm alone
the drip on cold water onto my palm.
And I know you again
So often, too often
I feel separate
from you
(an impossibility)
maybe its more like
I don't cherish, you
how you are
divine
Life, I feel you
and my heart is expanding
and glowing
and the tears come so sweetly
I am sorry for the quietude
and the silence of gratitude
I know the moment I call
you'll be there for me
thank you
I love you so much
I will know you
I will know you
Warmth,
Alex
