Dear Little Brother Keep Dreaming

Dear Little Brother,

Whose existence is wired to a changing world that the news claims is on fire. I'm warning you now that you can only be brave because of the darkness of your complexion that god has so perfectly made. I've lived on this planet for 1 score in years and I can tell you that I myself have many fears. As I watch you grow up and play with your cars and jam out to music on your speakers. The thoughts ringing out, couldn't be any clearer. I've watched the news around our country and presidential speeches, discord in congress, and monsters giving hate speeches. When I was your age I was oblivious to it all but with time comes age and I had to watch the perfect image fall . And crumble into a fine fairy dust

Paradise lost and so was my innocence and now even political correctness seems like only a pretense. Because when I was your age I thought all the battles had been done. That all the Heroes had fought and that they had surely won. They picked up their swords and began their marches, facing many enemies, resisting their charges. Marched right up to Capitol Hill and gave a speech of a dream world in which people didn't have to retreat. From their neighbors, coworkers, protectors, and even friends. But now I realized the story has no end. I used to dream of everyone holding hands but now the dream is slipping through my fingers like little grains of sand.

So now like the Heroes before I'm taking up my shield. My pen is my sword and I won't stop until they yield. Because unlike me I want you to keep dreaming and I pray every night that the monsters quit scheming. Because a world on fire is no place to live. Especially for my little brother, a 7 year old kid.

Love,

Your Big Brother
