Dear Little Dog

Dear little dog,

Your ears are the biggest part of you,

and without judgement they listen

to problems that turn my eyes to dew.

Your own eyes are next, they always glisten.

It could be because you want my food,

but they seem to want me to love

myself through each and every mood.

Though I'm still not free of

all the doubts that plague my mind,

a glance into your chocolate eyes

feels-to me-far more kind

than what each sweet, empty word implies.

Though you can never answer by talking,

I find my peace when we go walking.

With love and treats,

Shelby
