Dear Love

Dear Love,

you were the calm before the storm,

you were the topping on a cake I knew I wouldn't like,

but I ate it anyway.

You were the thorn in my side

and all the wrongdoings I've ever done.

You held me when I needed it

and tore me down when I least expected it.

My life was hell when you came

and unbearable when you left.

Dear Love,

you are the worst thing I've ever met.

You tore me down

and made me humble.

You laughed when I cried

and cried when I loved.

You held your own like a tree in the dirt

and I fell short like a pebble in water.

Dear Love,

I never want to see you again.

It hurts when I try to stand.

You made me weak

yet you made me strong.

Dear Love,

I can't believe I'm about to say this,

but I think I'm ready for you again
