Dear Love

Dear Love,

You can be such a fleeting thing.

There one day and gone suddenly the next.

You can be like a rose blossom,

Beautiful and soft.

You draw people together using the arrow of Cupid.

Those who know you are happy

Content.

Many long for you,

Wishing you would visit them
And share your light with them

You draw people together who may have never considered each other

And show them how happy they can be.

You can also be the rose stem

Sharp and painful.

You drive people apart

Pitting them against one another.

Those who know you are hurt and broken.

Some wish you away to never be seen again.

You sometimes bring together those who should not be together,

Whether they be too similar or sometimes far too different.

You can be a beautiful thing, but you can also be a terrible thing.

Shining and rosy

But also sharp and angry.

Why must you sometimes stay with those who don’t deserve you,

And leave those who need you more than anything.

Oh being so kind and yet so fickle,

Shine your light upon humanity

And let the souls, separated since time forgotten, find each other once again.

Sincerely,

A Dreamer
