Dear Luck

Dear Luck,

Where are you?

I’ve been twisting in the turmoil of your tremendous power.

I cower

At the uncountable options in my sight;

Which path might

Be the right one.

I look into your face and

See the glint in your eye as you wink,

As if you are laughing at some joke

Unbeknownst to me.

You get the best of me,

As well as the worst.

You have a way of being here for me during the good times,

But when you are needed most

You disappear.

You vanish like a ghost

Into the depths of the unknown.

The time I was in good spirits;

I was laughing with my friends,

Just having a good time.

You were there

Guiding me on my way.

That time I was escaping cruelty;

Paving my way into a new world,

New me,

You were nowhere to be found.

You seemed to diffuse

Through space and time.

You’ve given me opportunity,

Probably more than I’ve noticed.

So many happy memories.

So many good days taken for granted.

You’ve hurt me.

Numerous scars exist inside my heart

From where you’ve ripped into my soul

And left me broken and battered.

You are convenient.

You’ve aided me in many an escapade.

You are awful.

You’ve fled at the most inopportune time.

I love you…

I hate you…

I want you…

Love,
