Dear Man in the Mask

Oh, man in the mask,

with your perfect disguise,

that sly smile, nice hair, and piercing blue eyes,

you spy.

You, who rips deep within,

without even asking if you are allowed to come in,

you push and shove, moving my emotions aside,

making me weak, and too numb to cry.

You spit venom and salt right into my heart,

and slowly but surely, start to tear me apart.

Hiding your intentions with that beautiful smile,

knowing that it would work for a while,

but soon I grew smart and saw through your mask,

saw that you were taking but would never ask,

Took my time, my dignity and my pride,

and left me staring as you look back with a snide.

You thought I was broken, and I did too,

but soon I realized, I grew strong because of you,

endured months and months of torture and pain,

to finally realize and to finally gain,

to finally have everything be the same,

before I met the man in the mask.
