Dear Me,
Hello, young one
I am here to deliver a message
You might be too young to understand
But a good dose of wisdom can be a blessing.
It's odd to be advised by a future self
But I wish I had known these tricks when I was your age
So pay close attention and keep these words in mind
Because for once, I'll be my own personal sage.
There are times where the dark clouds will just not leave
There will be days where these times will bring you pain
There will be seasons where a storm decides to stay
But just remember that you can always learn to love the rain
Enjoy your guides, since they are the only ones you have
They've made their mistakes and will make even more
But treat them with respect and love them until the end
Because they are greater than what you could ever ask for.
Be noble. Don't compare yourself to others
Not craving another person's life can be rough
But the only time you should look at your neighbors bowl
Is to see if they have enough.
It's fun to hate and it's easy to complain
But it gets you what you want and not what you need
Stop pointing fingers and work on yourself
Because blaming others will not make you succeed.
You dreams might seem impossible at times
But then again, no one thought the Wrights would ever fly
You are not ridiculous, just positive
So don't let yourself and others tell you lies.
I need to be honest with you:
Sometimes life can throw you around a bit
Sometimes the glass will appear half empty
But that's alright, since it could be a glass of shit.
Everything is awesome
Not everything is lost.
Just flow with whatever comes at you
And live your life at any cost.
I hope you grow up to be better than me
I hope you comprehend more things than I did
I hope you get through tough times with a smile on your face
I hope you see in the mirror the greatest person someone can be.
P.S.
11th grade, second period, French class
Ask that one girl out on a date
I recently saw her and said she would've said yes
But for me, it is now too late.
