Dear Me

You must listen to me,

You must hear me out,

As a young girl

Still trying to find your way out

Of despair;

Listen,

And forgive

And cleanse yourself

Of all those mistakes;

Listen,

And pay no attention to the lies

You constantly tell yourself

Of how ‘awful’ you are;

Listen,

As I tell you these things

So one day,

You may find hope again;

Listen,

And forgive yourself,

I command you,

As you merely survive through each day;

Listen,

And don’t give up,

When you’re so close

To the finish line;

Listen,

And let yourself know

How loved

And cherished

You really are;

Listen,

And live;

Listen to yourself

As you wail out all your pain,

Dear one!

Listen as it all comes crashing down,

And don’t let it crush you,

Dear young one!

Listen,

Forgive yourself of all your mistakes,

Because they will never define you;

Listen!

None of it was your fault,

And you are not alone

As you battle through your life;

Listen to me,

Sweet child!

Your past is not a part

Of who you are today;

Listen as I cry,

Young girl!

I wish upon the heavens above

To help you see who really are;

Listen,

Dear one,

Because a far greater plan is hanging

Over your head

As you lie beneath it,

Unaware;

Listen,

My dear child!

Listen to me,

For I am with you always;

Listen,

My beloved one!

You will find the hope and strength and courage,

I promise with all my heart,

And you will get through this heavy lifelong war.
