Dear Melanin

For the concealing of your identity

I shall call you Melanie

cause the world refuses to address your reality to the largest part of its demography

Melanie you are the realest to me and my nature of skin

matrue to your lasting color that wraps hundreds of girls in pride and insecurities

with you comes endless generations, a strong lineage of people, firm believers of your pride

Melanie you are a motherland

a gifted being from God that empowers movements in a society where many don't understand that

you Melanie come in all shapes and forms of beautiful

all colors of dark to light

coffee and cream

You cannot hide in the light and darkness is the birth place of your true identity

the world refuses to address your prosperity Melanie

your purpose

your courage

your strength

it strikes grief and fear, your boldnes and capability

the blank world is against you

against us Melanie.

Dear Melanie to you and to all who share your extravagant history

I wish you the best of luck,

for in this world our melanin is all we have to protect us.
