Dear memories, let it go
Dear self
I know it has been many years since all those events happened, but it is time to let it all go. Yes, it all was traumatic and frightening, but it is no use to holding on to it anymore. Holding on to it just makes you stay up at night worried about nothing. You held on for so long that you actually thought it was happening again. The time you got stabbed in 8th grade, and still attended school. The time you were walking to school and got shot twice in the backpack from a driveby. Or maybe the time that apartment complex shot up into flames and witnessed the people inside burning to death. I understand it is really difficult to forget all that, but holding on to it will just destroy you. I know you still think of all the family members and friends that died from alcohol. I know you do, because you were there for their deaths. It all happened so quickly that you couldn't move or speak for a day. Many people like you or experienced stuff like you become the heavy drinkers or drug attics. But not you, because you wish alcohol or drugs were never invented, for killing the people you were closest to. It is times like these that you need to move on with life. Sure you could keep them in your heart, but remembering every little thing will destroy you from the inside. And those traumatic memories, must go to. Those will just get in the way of the life you deserve. Many love you, and you are lucky for that. Those in your family that has fallen are all fine right now, they are in a better place. Don't worry about them, worry about now, the present time. And those pretty girls you always find yourself staring at, go make them smile like you always did.
