"Dear Mentors"

Dear Darlings, dear Dearests, dear Diamonds, dear Dears, It's time that I thank you For all of these years Of bone-jarring, knee-slapping journeys with you, Through jungles and castles, And battlegrounds too. We've been many places and seen many things, From cuddly meerkats To magical rings. I've met good King Arthur and Washington, George, At Vernon, Virginia, And bleak Valley Forge. Ever unmatched are your comedy skills, And you make my skin crawl With your bone-chilling thrills. A new world you open when this one's a bore, But the records of earth Are kept in your store. Stories, ideas, good people and bad Molded and shaped the Small brain that I had. You answered my questions and satisfied doubts, Exposed some false thinking And truth's whereabouts. The deeds that I've done and the choices I've made Might've been diff'rent Without all you bade. You've ever been always right there by my side In the moments I've laughed And the moments I've cried. Open, your home, and ready, your chair. Whenever I need you, You're always right there. So thanks to you all, often hidden in nooks, Top tutors and friends, Dear mentors... my books.
