Dear Mind

Dear mind,

It’s funny that you think this is writing.

You’ve had no inspiration for a long time.

You’ve gone several months without a creative word.

All the thoughts are there.

You store them so far away.

I call this unfair, much like everything else going on

I received several notebooks with pages of opportunities

But it just feels like broken promises.

Why don’t we work together?

Thoughts made to deceive and distract me, how cruel.

It is true we work together in a spiral of self destruction

Yet we ended up here for a reason.

Word after word.

I’m curious for how long you’ll let me have control.

I miss the long nights of agonizing over sentences and punctuation.

I feel out of my element here honestly.

I feel the need to write getting stronger.

Where do I focus? Should I focus or just roll with whatever comes out?

I wish to write for myself.

I think this is important for you to know, brain

Writing again will help the both of us.

So let’s get this straight:

I write about my feelings,

and I definitely do I have those.

Mainly about this boy, my senior year and future.

I want to start there. Can we start there?

I want to write about places filled with hope again.

Dear mind, be that place full of hope again.
