Dear Mirror

Dear Mirror,

I look at you and see a distorted figure.

It seems to me that I just get bigger and bigger.

My mind is always thinking

about how my body should be shrinking.

I eat one meal a day,

yet the fat never seems to stay away.

People around me lie

by telling me I am going to die.

"You are too skinny," they all say.

They don't know how much I truly weigh

The numbers on the scale are misleading.

They tell me that my body is depleting.

Dear Mirror, I don't mean to stare.

I just wish you would show me what is truly there.

One day I hope I will be able to see

without you altering me.

Sincerely,

A girl that wants to see clearly
