The Divorce

Dear mom,

I watched you, growing up

your laughter didn’t meet your eyes

you held me growing up

I never saw through your disguise

mom,

You cried, I never knew

I thought your life was grand

you screamed, I never knew

I never noticed your clenched hand

mom,

That day you sat me down, I felt it

my heart a rollercoaster in my chest

the facade was falling down, I felt it

today was different from the rest

mom,

I know your life is not the grandest

I know you deal with so much guilt

but now your smiles are the grandest

but now your life has been rebuilt

mom,

I love you.

Sincerely,

                Daughter
