Dear Mom
Dear Mom,
Words cannot begin to express what you mean to me,
But I will do my best to explain, because I couldn’t be more grateful.
Ever since I was little you were there for me.
When I was 5 you started homeschooling.
You were always so loving and kind in your teaching,
And so full of patience.
Even when I was younger and threw tantrums,
you somehow managed to keep your cool
Most of the time.
You pushed me in school,
You pushed me to learn piano,
You pushed me in karate,
And you never let me quit.
There were many times I would resist
But no matter my struggle,
You were always there to hold me and tell me you loved me.
Your persistence was not in vain.
I started taking college classes at 13,
I became a black Belt in karate,
And now, I play songs by Chopin, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and more.
As I grow older,
I realize how much of yourself you have poured into me.
There were many late nights you spent helping me study,
And times when you just spent time and listened to my problems.
No matter what, you were always there to encourage and tell me I will do great.
You have been molding me into a fine young man,
And one day, hopefully, a better adult.
You never let me quit when circumstances were difficult,
And always told me that I will make it through.
You were always pushing me because you saw something in me.
For everything in my life, I am indebted to you.
This debt, I will never be able to pay back
For there is nothing so valuable that I could give you that you haven’t already given me.
You have given me the tools to succeed in this journey called life,
There is nothing I could say,
Nothing I could do,
That will ever compare to what you have done for me.
I only hope that one day, I can be as great of a parent as you.
Even through these words I have written so far,
One could never comprehend the depth
Of my adoration and affection I have for you.
Even if I were to write this letter my entire life,
I would never be able to express my gratitude for you and all you’ve done.
But maybe these four words will do,
I love you Mom.
