Dear Mom

   Dear Momma,

Your voice sounds like a melody

the sweetest melody just for me.

I love you mom.

I wrote this letter to my Mom when I was five

But now that I am twenty I wrote a letter to my Mom that I'll forever hide.

   Dear Momma,

I love you.

And I know you will say I love you too.

But, I want you to know,

those words you said to me years ago

still play in my head sometimes.

Like the sleepovers we use to have,

Or the smile that graces your face when you see me.

But this event that plays in my mind is not sweet,

its bitter like that taste of the dark chocolate you love.

It sits in the pit of my stomach threatening to consume me,

because the words you spoke were not "I love you".

Its words I dare not repeat,

because all I heard was "my love isn't enough".

My world shattered that day into a million of pieces,

like the glass cups I use to break as a child,

but this time you can't clean it up,

because there are too many pieces that went missing.

I step on those pieces sometimes and it brings me right back to that moment.

The moment I learned my love isnt enough to save you from you.
