Dear Mom, It's been a while
Dear Mom,
You were misunderstood
I know it was hard and you did what you could
We never talk, but maybe we should
Love is hard, but it’s all for good
I’m older now, and I think I understand
What it feels like when things get out of hand
We’re not much different, according to Dad
We’re always compared, and I always felt bad
I saw you as the bad guy
Staying up late to cry
I don’t want to pry,
But I think we should try
We’re always silent and I want this to change
Although it’s been years and it may be strange
I know it’ll be worth it
To just “fit”
I don’t want to not understand anymore
Of all the things you abhor
I want to be one you adore
I want to open that door
Your one and only daughter,
Trinity
