Dear Momma
"Dear Mamma"
The day was July 27th 1968 when you first held my tiny body,
I'm sure you'll never forget that day Mamma I'm sorry tor being so naughty.
Lots of things have changed and my body's not the same but yes its really me,
I've held this body captive so long and now Momma I present it back to thee.
I've grown tired of not resting at night like I was laying on needles and pins,
my legs are wore from the running and bruises cover my shins.
I'm tired of looking through tear stained eyes please make it clear to see,
with my hands clinched tight I would pray to you so often I was on my knees.
But I'm OK Momma you made me strong I know how to hide a frown,
I've cleared the chips of my shoulders now the ones that held me down.
My mouth now speaks of your wisdom it was right there under my nose,
I'll forget what you told me Momma I've always stayed up on my toes.
I hope you've saved up some good advice for me I've since opened up my ears,
My head is full of fond memories but my mind has forgotten the years.
My belly sure misses your good cooking and I'm tired of spinning my wheels,
you remember that one chic Dorothy Momma she taught how to click my heels.
My back is week from turning the other cheek God please no more chains,
This body's tired of being locked up please don't let if happen again.
I love you Momma..... M.Ronk
