Dear Monster
Dear Monster:
your dark cloud has settled overhead,
and the thought of you terrifies me.
the happiness felt by your absence is no longer,
brutally killed by the oncoming storm.
you have shattered the world,
my world.
you are the thing keeping me from my happiness.
you leave bruises that cannot be seen
but are constantly felt.
no one is safe;
no one can hide,
all that seemed good is broken.
one or two words could cause an earthquake that lasts for days,
destroying everything it touches.
those who get in your way are destroyed or retreat so far into the depths of themselves,
it is almost impossible to find them again.
to be ourselves will get us killed.
we face a fate worse than death if we try to defend ourselves.
we would lose everything.
everything must be your way;
we can never ask you to do anything for us,
to help,
to take us somewhere,
and hell forbid
to get up.
it is suicide to try.
the one who loves you most is forgotten completely,
you cannot be bothered to deal with her but you'll make sure to make her life a nightmare for the rest of time.
you are petty,
cruel,
everything a person doesn't want
or need,
you are everything we cannot handle.
being terrified of you should not exist,
yet it does.
you are the monster under my bed;
the monster in my closet;
the monster right outside my window,
just waiting for me to open it so you can come inside and rip me to shreds.
I try to lock you out but it's too late.
you're already inside.
