Dear Mr. President

Dear Mr. President

I am just scratches of existence, scratches of words

Smaller than a grain of sand, not worth any importance

My voice is softer than melody of bluebirds

And  at the end of the day, I hold no high portance

Dear Mr. President

My very soul craves knowledge, wisdom is my close friend

I want to touch the moon, cause the sky isn’t the limit

But I have little to no funds, could this be the end?

Can I tell you about some things? Do you even have a minute?

Dear Mr. President

I know you mean well, you bring no bad intention

But the school system is wack, it helps no one

The teachers are paid less, students are stressed, there’s so much tension

There’s only one way to learn and that must be undone

Dear Mr. President

My pipes are filled with flint, alongside my dine a glass of poison

Pockets full of food stamps, yet there’s no real point

I lost many pounds, malnutrition at the layers of my skin, can we speak on the notion?

Those stamps don’t get the food I need nor the stuff I need, I don’t mean to disappoint

Dear Mr. President

I want to do better, trust me, I hold my own goals

Those who mind small goals just talk

I want to be a doctor, the passion from my head to my soles

But as always, the folks say I don’t have the shoes for the walk

Dear Mr. President

I don’t live in a fancy house, no gated community, no special privilege

Meals don’t come fast, money doesn’t get by

But even a small, unimportance like me follows an important image

You might think I’m complaining, but no I’m just answering your “why”

Dear Mr. President

All my struggles are here, I see no happy truth

So I give up the fight, surround myself with the bitter

Cause if I don’t find the next pay, I’ll be living with no roof

And at the end of the day, money flows fast when you’re a stripper

Dear Mr. President

So I roll up that joint, take a puff and pass it along

I sell so much, aren’t  I one of your entrepreneurs?

It brings me money even though it is wrong

The only job I have now is not one of your best prefers

But it still brings me money, it keeps me in a home

It takes my pain away, it solves my burdens on its own.

Dear Mr. President

Save me from this world

I’m sure I’ll do better if you do

Give me a better solution because the pages of my life are curled

Because with a speech or two, a law or few, my life can change because of you.

"They say don't go chasing waterfalls, so I snapped it and expressed it through words so that all would know I reached the end of it though I remain sitting in my chair." -Gem Salutations my dear Conrad Thy Gem hath appeareth by thy hour I'm Gemora or Gem for short. I'm your typical food-loving teen who devotes herself to writing and drawing. But like great writers all know, there is always room for improvement so don't hesitate to leave a constructive criticism.
