Dear Mr. Robinson

Dear Mr. Robinson,

I found your picture the other day.

When I asked mama who you were she told me to shut up and play.

The picture was faded but you look like a nice guy,

Dear Mr. Robinson, I’ll be waiting for your reply.

Dear Mr. Robinson,

It’s been a while since I wrote my last letter.

The picture of you is still locked away,

But when I asked mama who you were she told me ‘the memory just wouldn’t go away’.

Dear Mr. Robinson, is my mama okay?

Dear Mr. Robinson, I’m a teenager now.

Wow, how my life has turned upside down.

Mama told me who you were,

You’re a real bastard you know?

Oh wait, that’s me.

I’m sorry Mr. Robinson but I really ought to go.

Dear Mr.Robinson,

I was cleaning my room yesterday and guess what I found.

The picture and these letters,

I didn’t let out a sound.

You know what’s funny?

Your other daughter texted me today.

She said you lied to them about me,

Mr. Robinson, did you really think that was okay?

Dear Mr. Robinson, I’m going to be an adult and I heard you’re

going to die soon.

What if you never read these letters?

I think it’s for the best if I let you rest.

I’ll never let you know how happy I am that you had to go.

Dear Mr. Robinson, live a short life.

Dear Mr. Robinson, you really left your children.

All eight of them Mr. Robinson, what were you thinking?

I regret it now and I keep wondering how I let myself ignore you.

Seeing as you’re dead you’ll probably read this in your coffin.

My last words to you, my mysterious picture,

Dear Mr. Robinson, I hate you.
