Dear Mrs. Diamond

Dear Mrs. Diamond Dear my friend I am disappointed this friendship of ours had to end Though, like the breaths of wretched souls or wounds from broken glass Or smoke from dimly lit coals. I knew this wouldn’t last You had everything with us We had fun And love for each other At least you claimed to love me But then you left us for another You left us for a being as lazy as the sin of sloth An ignorant brute, selfish, and as pathetic as his constant coughs Now one question remains Mrs. Diamond. Why? Why did you leave? You were family And then you threw it all away For you I grieve.
