Dear My Future Self

Dear, my future self.....

I will no longer let fear of my oppressors taunt me.

I will no longer live in poverty.

I will no longer lack knowledge.

I will no longer let my tyrants determine my destiny.

I will no longer let my enemies detect my smarts, footsteps or success.

I will no longer be indecisive nor dumbfounded.

I will no longer settle for less.

I will no longer cleave to useless people.

I will no longer procrastinate.

I will no longer hold back the tongue of knowledge and truth.

I will no longer care about the stereotypes society uses to identify me.

I will no longer let anxiety, fear, and lack of education defeat me.

I will no longer let my past restrain me from succeeding in life.

I will.....

I will suppress all my oppressors.

I will become an excellent educator.

I will become an excellent African American nurse.

I will pursue all my dreams and conquer all my obstacles.

I will proceed with diligence.

I will graduate from college at the top of my class.

I will take my hardships by the horns and rejoice at the defeat.

I will perform and birth out great things in life.

I will know my self-worth.

I will sit on a throne of my future royal family.

I will choose to be an unprecedented, educated African American woman.

I will choose to be great and magnificent.

I will choose to be me.
