Dear My Mother's Cheater
Dear my mother’s cheater,
Shattered and jagged,
Raw pieces of her
Heart
Left in our kitchen,
On our couch,
In
My home.
You were supposed to
Be her comforter; her
Protection from lies
And harsh words and bad people
But you became all of those.
How were we to know
That you were going to
Morph into a monster
A man
I once considered to be
My father
Who ripped safety and security
From under us, swiftly and quickly
You left. You fled.
You coward.
And I was left to pick up her broken pieces.
I had to care for her
I had to heal her
I had to teach her about forgiveness
And moving on.
That is a mother’s job.
Not a daughter’s.
You took my mother from me,
And I wanted you to burn for this,
But it’s only me who is ablaze.
