Dear Myself
Dear nine year old naive girl,
The free spirit inside of you explodes for the world to see.
Your tender voice is like music to the ears of others.
You’re a precious and modest gift from God that has yet to be opened.
Dear eleven year old awkward girl,
The problems you are experiencing are weight on your shoulders that refuse to be dropped.
The cold names they throw at you will leave scars on your heart that will never vanish.
Their cruel voices are a broken record in your head that will never stop playing.
Dear thirteen year old blind-sided girl,
His reassuring words gave you goose bumps all over.
You trusted him like a daughter trusts her father.
However, he took your fragile heart and gave it away like a torn hand me down shirt.
Dear fifteen year old spontaneous girl,
There’s innocence inside of you that’s screaming, struggling, pushing its way out.
But it gets shoved back to the bottom of your heart along with despair and anger.
If only you could be that nine year old naive girl once more.
