Dear Naivety

Hello, I’m finally greeting you now

I’m sorry I’m so late

I guess I am now just ready

To face you confidently.

Sometimes I look back

And I still feel a pain in my heart.

I wish I could go back and grab your hand

When nobody else did

And give you words of comfort.

Then, you wouldn’t have had to suffer.

But right now, I smile thinking of you

Because you made me who I am today.

So I am thankful to us.

You don’t need to be perfect

You don’t need to scared

Even though everything is hard right now, it will get better

When it’s too much, it’s okay to take a step back

I always have, I am, and I will continue to be by your side.

Sincerely, you from the future

As I whisper to my younger self.
