Dear OCD

Dear OCD,

You pull me down

Like the weights you make me lift

Telling me that I will only be good enough

In one more rep, one more mile, one more minute

You control me

You pull the strings and I-

Your little puppet-

Keep moving, moving, moving until my body gives out

You hold me back

A pressing feeling in my chest as I need to go back

Pursuing perfection that is always just out of my grasp

Checking, checking, rechecking, and yet you never change

Until one day

I decided to

I am seeking help

I am finding a voice and gaining control

I am stronger now because of you

And someday soon my life will be my own again

Sincerely,

A girl with OCD
