Dear Oklahoma

Dear Oklahoma Right now you’ve lost Things too precious a cost Things we thought we’d have forever, They were torn away by the weather, Our security, our hope, Things we thought everyday we’d see, Things now without which we have to cope, Things we didn’t give enough credit, Just like John Petryoing said it, “You don’t know what you have until it’s gone.” All we’re left with now is the setting sun, And the memories of the good times we had before, It’s true, we might not have those things anymore, But what we do have is our love and each other, When times get rough, we realize how important we are to one another, And the value of people instead of stuff, Because we are all we really need, we are enough Our hearts and our prayers go out to Oklahoma our friend, Just know that even though you’ve lost so much it’s not the end, As the nation wraps its arms around you in love, And as you are the one we’re all sympathetically thinking of, Know that we will support you through this, As you stand back up on your feet, As you think about those that you miss, And one day will again be able to greet, You will come out of this stronger, And realize that your love will last longer, It’ll ring more loud and true, Because Oklahoma, it’s a part of you, We embrace this tragedy together, We will fight for each other, now and forever. Don’t give up, and don’t lose your hope.
