Dear Old Dad

There once was an angry old man

He found some way to nitpick everything one can

He continued like this until everyone fled

The he nitpicked the loneliness until he was dead

What a pathetic waste of a lifespan

You can really hear the distane the author has for the man, assumingly the dad because of the title, and it makes for a very powerful poem. I especially like how the third and fourth lines rhyme, the way if flows when reading out loud feels perfect. You can tell the author feels this way most likely because they know someone like this man. It gives off the energy of a parent talking to their significant other or friend about their father, with the last line being a response they give to the author. It gives me a strange feeling of something like happiness at the mans death, as if he got what he deserved. I enjoy the imagry that the man nitpicking his own loneliness gives, reminding me of an elderly man grumbling to himself or anyone that will listen.

The last line feels a little out of place. It feels like the gradual slip into the mans life ging downhill when it suddenly falls into his life being pathetic. However, when putting it into the context of a reply someone gives to the author it makes a lot more sense. I think if there were quotation marks around the first 4 lines followed by a seperate set for line 5 it would make it clearer for other readers. The second line also feels a bit wordy and doesn't flow as easily when reading and loses the flow of the sing-song nature of limericks when read out loud..

This poem really hits hard. The tone is full of annoyance and hatred for this man. "He found some way to nitpick everything one can," this line stuck out to me because it is so relatable. The whole poem flowed nicely and the structure was smooth and made it easy to read. I like how you never realy focused on how the old man looked, but rather what he did. I don't think any breaks were needed in this, wich is good because you didn't add any. I really liked this poem overall.
