Dear Old Friend
Dear old friend,
Its been so long.
You and I were once one in the same.
Now when you come around I fade away.
Dear old friend,
I'm sorry for all I've done.
I miss your laughter,
your hope that kept you warm.
I am only warmed by the anger
by the pain.
Dear old friend,
Where did you go?
You leave images of dragons and flowers for me to find.
I leave piles of papers.
You leave happiness.
I leave numb.
Dear old friend,
I wish you were here again.
I wish we'd never split apart.
I want to be together again
one in the same.
Now I walk alone,
vanishing slowly as you return
we are not the same.
You are my happiness,
I am your heartbreak.
We are both necessary.
The two personalitites that make up this girl.
But we are not one in the same anymore.

Your Poem's Voice
Personal conflict about lost friendship, with abstract identity fragmentation toward end.
Multiple ideas per stanza: nostalgia, regret, contrast, self-reflection, reconciliation attempts.
Predominantly melancholic, regretful, with acceptance but minimal hope or positivity.
Restrained, introspective tone with emotional weight; no explosive language or rhythm.
Approximately 20 lines; falls in 16-30 range.
Dragons, flowers, happiness as warmth; metaphorical split-self; some ornamentation but mostly direct.
Pure lyric introspection; speaker addresses internal division as imagined other, not external dramatic persona.
