Dear, The One Who Could Not Listen
If you are here to understand,
If you are here to listen,
Cover your ears, and solely rely upon your vision.
I am not a woman of many words,
For I use my words wisely.
I wouldn't waste my breath
If a man would not listen kindly.
So here I take pencil to paper
To write what I think should be said.
I am not here to cater,
Not here to lie to myself or you.
I am here to speak nothing but the truth,
and may God help me to.
We met out of physical lust,
The strongest lust,
and the most superficial.
I was a distant kind of crush,
It was simple.
When our lips met it was clear
We were just children,
Laughing, enjoying life.
But when we stopped and listen,
Everything turned different.
I relied on you to be there everyday,
And sadly, you were the same.
We said we were in love,
But we were in love with shame.
Distance weakened us.
I became a slave to your touch.
You became accustomed to the pain
You would feel when I was away.
Slowly, but surely I became afraid,
Afraid of the truth,
That those three words
We just said to loose.
I love you.
That much I know is true,
But how much longer can I
Carry the weight
That this weightless thing ensues.
You love me.
That is clear to see,
But how much longer can you believe
That I am true,
That I am clean
Not long enough...
Then we can never be.
