Dear Papí, can I be your son?

Dear papí,

Sometimes

I look at myself,

And feel

Disgusted.

It's been like this for a while,

Somedays

Its ok;

Others,

It’s unbearable.

I used to think it was just puberty.

I used to think it was normal

To hate my body

For not looking the way

It was supposed to.

I've been wanting to tell you for a while,

But

I never knew how,

Since it doesn't exactly

translate .

Do you think its weird

To live this way?

You don't have to accept me now,

I mean,

It took me years

To accept it myself.

You can still say I'm your

Daughter,

If that makes

you

feel better.

You can ignore this whole letter

Pretend that this isn't real,

If that makes it easier

to look at me,

that's what my sister does.

Can I just ask one favor?

Please

continue

To love me,

To encourage me

to be more

Than I ever thought I could be.

Please continue

To be proud of me.

Love,

Tú ojos negros
