Dear Parents

Dear Parents,

When I was first born

You expected a star

But then you were torn

You both wanted me to be who you are

But now we are here

At the end of the race

All I can do is fear

Am I what you wanted to face

I am not like either of you

I am me

We saw what childhood made me do

Now it’s time to see how college will make me be

I hope you don’t regret who I grew up to be

Now it’s time for me to grow on my own

I only want you to be proud of me.

Love your daughter
