Dear Part of Me

Depression,

You nasty, wretched,

No-good, piece of…

Me.

I am not you,

But I have you inside.

You claw and bite,

Scream and whisper.

Through your eyes,

I saw others differently.

You found me friends

That felt as deeply as me.

I would still like

For you to leave.

Vacate the premises.

Get out of here.

But for now,

As you steal from me

I plan to steal right back.

A realistic perspective.

Signed,

The broken, the mending,

The stronger, and the improving

Version of me
