Dear Past,
Dear Past,
I saw you in my dream last night.
I was walking down an empty street
when I heard a noise and looked behind me,
there you were, smiling.
Though you've aged,
you appeared clear as day.
It's always the same,
I have a hard time letting you fade.
The longer I stared at you,
the more memories came back.
And that was it,
you made your attack.
I couldn't break my gaze.
Remembering all our days.
Most of the time you were ugly and flawed
but sometimes you were beautiful
and as I looked at you behind me
you seemed somewhere in between.
I tried to think of Future
because that's who is important now
but you won't let me look away
you won't let me forget your pain.
I kept on staring
and I remember all the things you taught me
and you kept glaring
because with Future, I use the knowledge you gave me
When I woke up
to see Future in front of me
I was relieved but I still
heard your faint footsteps behind me
on that empty street
in my dream.
Love,
Kensie
