Dear Past
Every time I try to leave you, you come sneaking back into my life,
No matter how many times I try to walk away I just can’t seem to shake you off,
It’s been years since I have let you completely take over my life,
It has also been years since I was able to take back control over my life,
But nevertheless, you always find ways to make yourself known,
How can you not see that all I want to do is move on,
Not only do you hurt me but you also end up hurting my friends and family,
You hurt the people I care about.
You have left your mark on me forever,
There are scars to prove it,
On my heart, my soul, my arms, my legs,
There is no denying that you will be apart of me till the day I die,
You have to know that I am a lot stronger than I once was,
I have people in my life now that help me get through the tough times.
There is no way that I will allow you take my life,
You will not win this battle,
I refuse to be another statistic,
Another number on a chart,
Another nationwide percentage,
I refuse to be an article in a news story,
Or to have people talk about me.
You see Past your name means, gone by in time and no longer existing,
When the clock changes numbers that's when your time ends,
You can’t just keep coming back whenever you want to,
You are no longer a part of me,
So here I am writing to you, saying that I am letting you go for good.
