Dear Perfection

Dear perfection,

Dear unattainable ambition.

Dear beautiful disaster.

Hi.

I wish I could say that it’s been awhile.

I wish I could say that I’m over you.

I don’t think it’s that simple.

You see,

You didn’t take something from me,

You built me.

Looking away from mirrors-

They were always flaw seekers.

Overthinking text messages-

Studying for just another hour-

Telling myself the world will not fall apart when I mess up.

Feeling like the world is going to fall apart when I mess up.

You see,

You are a part of me.

I can’t hate you,

But I do.

I wish I could say that I’ve moved on.

I wish I could go back and try again.

If I did, I don’t think I would be who I am.

Dear unattainable ambition,

Dear perfection,

Dear me.

Hi.
