Dear Photograph

Dear Photograph,

I look at you and see the past

You share with me a fake smile

And I can’t help but remember

All the times we shared back then

Your grin is wide, but your eyes

Look regretful

What have you done up to now?

I look at you and see the future

You share with me a glimpse of light

And I can’t help but remember

All the plans I made back then

Your eyes are sad, yet sparkle and

Seem hopeful

What is it we were waiting for?

Make yourself matter,

Makenzie Stearsman, the You who made it
