Dear Public Schoolers

You are the future of our generation and the generation to come

You have an unlimited and unmeasurable amount of potential but I’m afraid that will be cut short

Why you may ask?

Someone with an idea that is indescribable will take it from you

So as safety kindergartners, I know it’s hard but please do your best to stay quiet for at least the next hour or so

And middle schoolers I know it’s weird to have people check your bags but in more than 30 states it’s technically legal for a child to possess a long gun

And high schoolers, I know at least 32% have anxiety and don’t feel safe at school, but to add to that we’ll only put a safety plan in place if something happens

I want to be able to say that this will get better but I’ll be honest, it doesn’t seem like it will

I want children so bad but, I don’t want them put in a situation like I have

It’s scary, going to school not knowing if that might be the last day of your life

So always, be there for one another, check on each other, and maybe we’ll be alright
