dear push up bra

dear push up bra,
it’s been awhile since we last talked,
but i have not forgotten you.
the distance between us has grown,
and i accept full blame.
once you cushioned my blossoming body,
and my wilting confidence
i covered you in all the right things:
tight jeans
furry boots
tight top
not too tight
just enough to show you off.
play it safe
not too safe
not to try too hard.
long blonde hair, stick straight
mascara
eyeliner
foundation
not too much.
laugh a little
smile a lot.
i hid behind your padding and your lace
as mistake after mistake
turned from silence
to whispers
to whips.
as stares turned to
slashes
and laughs to
lashes.
and thence came our end.

so thank you for your service,
my once steadfast friend.
not to be cheesy here,
but I know you tried your best.
it’s not your fault but mine
i could no longer live a lie.
