Dear Rage,
Dear Rage,
You are the worst part of me.
You are like an internal bomb.
You have such a short fuse,
And you explode,
Hurting the people around me.
You are the reason I can’t escape becoming my father,
The reason I have little patience with people,
The reason my younger brothers fear me.
You get in the way,
You push, you shove.
And I try to run from you,
To escape the red flame that you burn inside me,
But I can never escape you,
For you become addictive.
You make it easier to harm than to help.
You are my greatest enemy,
The hardest to overcome.
I have few friends because you are quick to ignite,
Burning inside me,
The smoke forming my words
and the fire controlling my actions.
I try to control you,
To hold you back,
Trying to stop you from doing your worst.
I put up walls
and distance myself,
But sometimes you find the cracks, my weak points in my armor,
And you burst forth,
Bringing forth the fires of Hell
and swallowing me in the endless flames of anger and misery.
You used to hurt me,
And you still do,
But at least now, I can channel your power,
and use it constructively,
instead of destructively.
Your Life-Long Adversary,
