Dear Sanity,
Dear Sanity,
Lately I’ve been worrying about you,
And there is a reason for why I do.
I sense that you’re slipping away from me,
Slowly into a territory of melancholy;
And I fear that there is no cure or remedy;
My Dear, I dread this to be true.
My spirit shall dim and weaken when you are gone,
My demons will defile me and utter in a twisted new dawn.
This is a grave defeat that I cannot bare;
For I will descend and drown in despair,
Fully aware that you are no longer there
To give me the clarity and guidance to move on.
My Dear, listen to my humble cry,
Which I say with a somber sigh.
“Please don’t walk away…
Please, oh please just stay…
Please, My Dear, just give me one more day
To pour my heart out, and say my last goodbye.
Once you’re gone, I will no longer recognize my own face.
Once you’re gone, my honor will crumble into disgrace.
And once you’re gone, my heart will be replaced by a baneful spore,
Which will corrupt me down to my very core.
All of this and more, shall torment my mind forevermore…
This future is barren, and mine alone to embrace.
Oh Sanity, you are my light,
You give me purpose and insight
To live my life without confusion or doubt.
You give me the strength to stand up and shout
at all the negative forces scheming and lurking about.
You give me the vision and durability to endure the hellish night”
You were once benevolent and oh so pure,
You resisted the malevolent and the obscure,
Nothing could possibly pierce your precious psyche.
Your presence was welcomed and never taken lightly,
Like a star in the night, you glowed brightly,
And the night was something you could always endure.
But now you remind me of a weak weeping willow,
Looking down on some sad stricken shadow.
Now, you look broken and beaten down,
And nothing I do will reverse your tired frown.
And now, you enshroud yourself in a ruinous gown,
Quietly sulking, and slowly letting yourself go.
When did you begin this sullen retreat?
When did you decide to admit defeat?
What is the cause of your silent shift?
Will this continue to expand our rift?
For how long will you stay adrift?
Don’t you know that your absence is indiscreet?
I’ve reached out to you and called out your name,
But you turned away, with no remorse or shame.
Do you wish to abandon me, My Dear Sanity?
Do you wish to see me suffer Milady?
Oh please, let me know what is your decree?
Please let me know, for this is not some childish game.
I am growing weary and frustrated
When you continue to keep me isolated.
I am constantly worrying about our fate,
My mind can no longer think straight,
And as of late I am easy to irritate;
But you grow distant and remain jaded.
Even now as begin to finish this letter,
I realize things might not get better.
Because soon you will be beyond my grasp,
Soon you will be something I can no longer clasp.
Just thinking about this makes me rasp,
For those thoughts are full of terror.
I do hope you get this,
For you are something I will miss.
I don’t want you to leave,
Losing you will cause me grieve.
This is too much to perceive.
Just know this, you are the only that gives me bliss.
Sincerely,
The One who needs you dearly
